Class Is In Session

Summer is rapidly coming to a close and the Fall Semester of school is upon us. In certain part of the U.S. kids have already gone back to school. In other parts, they are a week away from returning.
I always thought, If I ever decided to teach (which is something I don't really plan to do), how would I dress?
You want to be professional because you want your students to respect you. But you also want to be comfortable. You probably will have a long day ahead of you.

So here's the look I came up with. Fashionable, yet comfy. Something that is perfect for all day wear but still can look chic for meetings and after-work fun.
*Disclaimer: Teachers don't normally wear this much hair and makeup but I think it's definitely doable. So if you haven't tried it, do something new to see if you like it. There's no hurt in trying

Code Neon: Incorporating Neons into your wardrobe

There are no rules to this thing called Fashion. There are only guidelines that you can use or totally ignore. But there are some of us that just don't know what to do and actually would like to get it right when it comes to Style.

One trend that never fades is Neon in the Summer. Year after year we see it but done in different ways.
Here is MY take on how to incorporate Neons into your wardrobe.
Now keep in  mind, there is no right and wrong answer here. You have to do what feels authentic to who you are. In saying that, I'm advising you take what you need from my post and apply as you see fit.

1. If in doubt, Start small!

Since Neon is so powerful, you don't want to overdo it out the gate. If you're ever in doubt, start with a piece like a shoe, a bag, or even just a nail polish. Throw it with a neutral outfit and that's a winning look.

2. Go Bold or Go Home!!

Add a necklace, a ring, or earrings in a bold neon.  Keep the rest of the outfit simple or neutral

3. One or the other

If you are doing neutral clothing then add the neon accessories. But if you are doing neon clothing, then shoes, bags and other accessories should be neutral. You don't want to have too much going on.

4. Color Wheel Makeup

Do a pop of color on the face that accentuates or enhances the color of the neon you choose.( i.e. Green compliments Purple so doing a purple lip with a neon green shoe is pleasing to the eye).

5. HAVE FUN, IT'S ONLY FASHION

Don't be scared to just try something new. Put it together, photograph and see what it looks like on you. If you don't like it, try something else. It's only fashion, it comes off at the end of the day!

Bye Bye Summer

Hey Guys!!!!
I know it's been a few weeks that I haven't blogged but I'm back! As summer comes to a close (I flew by for me), I want to get my last burst of brightness in with this ensemble. I love Turquoise and Grey already but I felt it needed a little jolt of color. So, I choose to pair it with a pop of pink on the lips and in my bag.
How has everyone's summer been? You guys ready for fall???
I love Fall so I'm ready!!!

Modern Day House Wife Glam

Remember there was a time when women got dressed up and snazzy for almost every occasion. Even house wives looked awesome throughout the day. I wish we could step back into that era (in some ways). Since we can't, I've decided to bring a little of that old school glam into the present day with this fabulous polka dot cotton dress. As simple as it is, it definitely makes a statement but takes minimal effort to wear. The best part of this dress is IT HAS POCKETS!!! I LOVE POCKETS. Super corny but they make me so excited.

I love these types of pieces because more often than not, they look good on almost everyone.
I hope my bit of vintage fab brings a little brightness to your day!

Paisley Perfection

Dress: Spruce & Sage for Gwynnie Bee
Bag: New Look (here)
Slingback Pumps: ShoeDazzle (here)
Jewelry: c/o Rocksbox

I usually am not a fan of Paisley anything but this dress is the epitome of stylish comfort. I am overly enthused at the fact that it creates and smooth and seamless silhouette without shape wear or hosiery.  I love the print in just two colors (versus the other paisley prints that have a million colors in them). I wanted to add a little pop to the ensemble so I chose yellow accent pieces that were all centered around my Rocksbox necklace.

My makeup for today, I chose to keep simple. Just a splash of color on the lids with mega lashes (but still natural enough for work)

This is one of my favorite all together looks to date. The dress is super comfy and can easily be dressed down with flats and a jacket.

* All items in this post were purchased by me except for the jewelry that was sent by Rocksbox.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I hope you got some still inspiration from my post. All comments and feedback are welcomed and encouraged.

The Mighty Pink & Green

"Boldly dare to be a pop of color in a black and white world"
~Source Unknown

This morning, in NY, it's a dull and cloudy day. So I thought, why not brighten up my mood with my makeup and clothes. It usually works! I pulled out this dress that I recently purchased and  instantly felt better about the day. Remember a recent post in where i spoke about the service Gwynnie Bee? Well this dress comes from their online store. The sent it to me to try and I decided to purchase it because I liked it.
The brand is Triste, which I never heard before purchasing this piece. I love the pattern and shape of the dress. Though I'm not hippy, it's a-line design still flatters my body.

I decided to focus on the green in the dress and play it up with some bright green sandals and an popping statement ring.

And then, I pulled out an old favorite. A leather Dooney and Burke Bag.

Dress: Triste for Gwynnie Bee
Bag: Dooney & Burke
Shoes: Michael Antonio (DSW)
Ring: Old Navy

My Makeup was kept simple. But I did use a bit of color.

Here's some of the products used!

Foundation: Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Foundation (Golden)
Powder: MAC MSFN (Dark Golden)
Concealer: LA Girl Pro Concealer (Medium Beige)

IN THE PHOTO
The Balm Cosmetics (Betty and Cindy Lou-Manizer)
MAC Paint Pot in Idyllic (Limited Edition)
Colour Pop Blushes in Fruit Stand and Bonus
MAC Eyeshadow Duos (Limited Edition)

Living your life in color is so much better than being dull. Let your light shine!!!

Wanna Rumble With The Bee???

I can't even tell you why this ensemble reminded me of a bumble bee this morning but it did! Black and White stripes happen to be my favorite neutral (I think i've said this plenty of times before). And today, I chose to pair it with a fun blouse I purchased from Fashion to Figure (which is actually a tunic but I chose to tuck it inside the skirt). Because I didn't want to be to matchy, I threw in an oversized tote in another color, just for added fun!

As always, I want to wish everyone a Happy and Productive Week.

Chevron To The Max

I can really admit that my mom knows me the best of all. She always picks out the most fabulous things for me and my body type. My most recent visit home to Miami proved that she'll always have something fabulous waiting for me in my closet. She had a few dresses and skirts put away for me and this was among the flock.

The reasons that I love this dress are endless but the biggest pluses about it are the print and the length of the dress. Who doesn't love a chic maxi dress. It's very easy to wear. It can be styled up or down. I chose to style down and pair mine with simple pieces that would allow the dress to shine the most.
The belt attached did not come with this dress, I added it for a little more gold accent.

Dress| ROSS   Sandals| NY&Co Belt| (came from another dress) Bag| Street Vendor

I decided to keep my makeup fresh and light. No dark dramatics or overly bright lip. As natural as I could stand. lol. Because I wasn't feeling like heavy mascara, I chose to pop on some natural-ish lashes and open my eye more with cream eyeliner in the water line. The lipstick choice was a matte lipstick with gloss over it (Tropic Tonic Matte Lipstick by MAC Cosmetics and a limited edition gloss by the same)

Cheers to the ending of another fabulous week!!!

Horizontal/Vertical Flow

Today is basically like any other. A typical Monday. I decided to break out an old dress that's only been worn once.  But this time, with new pairings.

Because of all the color and stripes going on, I decided to keep my jewelry on the simple side. I just chose some magenta stoned earrings and my rose gold Michael Kors watch.
I think the movement of the stripes speak enough volume to where I didn't need to over accessorize.

This is such an easy look for a work summer day.

What do you think?

Dress| Forever 21 (old) (same dress in different color)
Cardigan|  Forever 21 (here)
Shoes| Shoe Dazzle (here)
Belt| NY&Co.

I just love the look of the horizontal and vertical stripes of the same color (shoes and dress)

I decided to keep my makeup simple with adding a fuschia lip. I hardly ever wear eyeliner on the waterline but today, I wanted to switch that up a bit.

This is my normal, day to day, office look. I hope you all have a great Monday!

XOXO
