Summer Goth Glam

It's Monday Again!
I hope everyone had an eventful weekend. I did get out on Friday night with "bae" to go and visit a popular spot in Harlem (RED ROOSTER).
I was dying to wear this new lip from MAC Cosmetics called "Matte Royal" so I wanted the ensemble to reflect the boldness of the lip choice.
I know this isn't "summery" but I still feel like you can rock this look in any season.

2 Steps to Fabulous Summer Eyes

Happy Hump Day Everyone!
Today, I wanted to give you a fool proof, easy eyeshadow look to get you through the summer.
You can change out the colors but the technique and use of the products should remain the same.
IT IS SO EASY

Here's What You'll Need:
  • A creamy eyeshadow base (preferrably with a satin or metallic finish)
  • A corresponding powder shadow (in the same color family)
  • Your face powder
  • A fluffy blending brush (like the MAC 224 or Sigma E40)
The products I used are as follows:

  1.  Step  One: Use your fingers to blend your cream base all over the lid, stopping at the crease. Make sure there are no harsh lines (using your fluffy blending brush)
  2.  Step Two: Use the same brush to blend your powder shadow over the cream base. Again, stopping at the crease.
  3.  Now you just want to make sure your brush is cleaned off and dip it into your face powder to blur all the harsh edges (starting at the crease to blend out)
Voila! You're done. I added lashes to my look but this can easily be done with mascara. It's super simple for Summer. You can use Golds, Bronzes, Champagnes, etc. Any eye color you want. But you want to do this with neutral shades only! This is beginner friendly and basically fool proof.

Here are some pictures of how it looks with a set of lashes.

Again, this look is so simple, and super easy for this summer. I hope you guys try it out. Let me know your thoughts.

As always, I thank you for taking the time to read my blog. All comments and feedback are encouraged.

Many Blessings!

IWISH HAIR- First Impressions & Review

IWish Peruvian Curly

Hello Again!

It's mid-june and I was itching for some new hair. After researching tons of hair companies, I decided on IWish Hair on Aliexpress.

I will begin with the specs of the hair

  • I purchased, 4 bundles (18",20", 22", 24").
  • The hair is the Peruvian Curly Hair (Hair Link)
  • Vendor is IWish Hair Ltd. Co. (Store Link)
  • I paid $159.09 for all 4 bundles.
Here's What I looked like when it came to me.

The bundle on the far right has been co-washed. The others are directly from the package. So the curl pattern remains in tact after washing (I used Hello Hydration from Herbal Essences).

The weft was constructed pretty well and that was consistent with all the bundles. No bearding.

Pros:
  • I love the softness and texture of the hair.
  • I got minimal, if any shedding.
  • No foul order once shipped.
  • Lightweight hair. Good for hotter temps
  • No tangling. (I can run my fingers through the curls with no tugging)

Cons:
  • I had a problem with shipping where the vendor didn't write the suite number to my address. I had a little trouble getting it but it did ship pretty quickly.
  • The hair isn't as full as I hoped. The ends seem a little bit too thin for my taste. If you like a more natural looking install, then this would probably be great for you. I like lots of hair.
HOW I STYLED IT THIS MORNING:
I got the hair installed yesterday. All I did this morning when styling was spray the hair with a mixture of leave in conditioner and water. Nothing more. The hair in the photos below is semi-damp but I prefer when the hair dries because it gets a little bigger (not by much though). It pretty much maintains the same amount of volume.

RECOMMENDATION:
I would pretty much recommend this hair to anyone that wants an install that looks like it could be their own hair. If you prefer lots of hair, either up the bundles, or go with another brand. Another solution probably could have been to purchase all one length and layer it after installing. I think that it would probably appear more full that way as well.

This hair does get more volume once it's dry. so it maybe enough. In that case, I would advise you to do your regular routine in the morning (wetting hair to refresh the curls) and then use a diffuser to dry the hair so that the volume is greater (quicker).

THIS IS LATER IN THE DAY ONCE THE HAIR IS FULLY DRY.

Bright & Sunny

Hello Again!
I'm so glad it's Friday. This week has just been as crazy as ever! As we are preparing for the weekend, i decided to go out with a BRIGHT BANG! I plan on meeting my girlfriend for dinner tonight so I wanted to be cute but still comfy and appropriate for work. I purchased these two pieces from www.ashleystewart.com about two weeks ago. I got them on sale for less than $30.00 together. At first I just bought them (not intending for them to go together) but once I received my order, I saw that it was a match made in heaven!

I love the print of the pants. The shape and cut are super flattering to longer legs (which I definitely have).

What do you think??

You're Making Me Blush: Summer Faves

My Favorite Blushes

My Favorite Blushes by aprilantoinette featuring nars cosmetics

Today, I decided to do a quick post of my current favorite blushes.
Keep in mind, that I am fairer in complexion (but still African-American).

1. Nars Taj Mahal
2 Iman AfterGlow
3. Milani Powder Blush in Coral Cove
4. Milani Baked Blush in Corallina
5. Cargo Blush in Los Cabos

There are many more I love, but these are the ones in heavy rotation as of late. Blush and Highlighter has to be my favorite products!
Though these colors are flattering to a majority of skin tones, they may not work for some. So keep in mind, that you have to test them on your skin tone before purchasing.
My complexion loves these colors though. I am an NC44 in MAC Studio Fix Fluid and Truly Topaz in Black Opal Foundations. I also wear Tahoe in Nars All Day Flawless and Sheer Matte foundations. (to give you an idea on what color I am).
Usually, anything with a peachy or orangey undertone flatters me and all of these blushes are that tone.

What's your favorite blush? Have you tried any of these??

I can tell you this! These blushes are globally fabulous. Beautifully priced. And Nicely pigmented. Try one and tell me what you think!

Thank you for visiting my blog. All comments and feedback are welcomed.
